Being Graphic: Assistant Editor

Project Description: “PSUGD is an exciting place to be. It is where students come to learn, feel known and supported, and part of not just a nationally recognized design program, but something bigger—a community of makers that are there for one another. PSUGD was in need of a holistic piece of print that would uphold the program and last for years to come and Being Graphic made sure that happened.” - Makayla Lovrak

This 3 color offset news publication was created by and for Portland State University graphic design students. The team consisted of students creating together in A+D Projects; PSUGD’s in house graphic design studio.

My Role

This issue of Being Graphic began in Fall 2019 and experienced a pause in the winter. In the Spring 2020 term of A+D Projects, Seth and I joined the team to see the project to the finish line after it lost two active members.

Makayla was in need of fresh eyes and input on the project before it could be deemed finished and sent to the printer. I assisted with choosing the final spot colors, organized and reproduced Clare's illustrations, edited copy of the Pop Quiz, Sophomore Portfolio Review spread, and Shaping Up to be a Graphic Designer spread, made a handful of final page layouts edits, and was one of those who reviewed the final document before it went to press.
